The Postgraduate Pakistan Scholarship 2027 at the University of Stirling is a £4,000 tuition fee waiver for full-time, on-campus postgraduate taught students who live in Pakistan when they apply. You do not submit a separate scholarship application. The next deposit deadline is November 13, 2026, for January 2027 entry. The university does not name a time zone, so plan around UK time.
This is partial funding, not a full ride. Stirling identifies eligible students automatically during admissions and usually sends a scholarship offer within one week of your course offer. You then pay a £1,000 deposit to secure the award, and missing that date is the easiest way to lose it.
On October 24, 2026, I read the scholarship page together with Stirling's Pakistan entry page, English language page, visa page, and funding page. This guide adds what the scholarship page leaves out: a deposit timeline with PKT, ET, and PT conversions, a Pakistan entry check, and separate sections for US readers and other international students. Anything the university has not confirmed is labeled as unconfirmed.

Overview of the Postgraduate Pakistan Scholarship
Stirling is a university in Scotland, and this award is one of several country-based scholarships it offers to international postgraduate students. The Pakistan version is a fixed £4,000 reduction in tuition fees. Stirling says multiple awards are available but does not publish a count, so nobody can honestly tell you how many students receive it each year.
Three details make it different from most scholarships you will read about. There is no scholarship form, the university describes no essay or competition, and you must pay a £1,000 deposit to keep the award. I think of it as a fee discount that you lock in with a deposit, not as a prize you win.
Which Section Is for You
- Living in Pakistan: start with the Pakistani applicants section.
- Living in the United States: read the US applicants section first, because the residence rule matters.
- Living anywhere else: go to the other international applicants section.
Who Can Apply
These are the eligibility conditions on the official scholarship page, rewritten in my own words. Meeting all of them is what makes you eligible. Selection is a separate topic, covered in the next section.
- You hold a conditional or unconditional offer for an eligible postgraduate taught course at Stirling.
- Your course starts in September 2026, January 2027, September 2027, or January 2028.
- Stirling classifies you as an international student for tuition fees.
- You live in Pakistan at the point of application.
- You enter a full-time degree taught at the Stirling campus.
- You do not hold another Stirling award, except a Sports Scholarship.
What These Conditions Mean in Practice
Offer first. The scholarship follows your course offer, so you cannot be considered before you apply for admission. A conditional offer counts, which helps if you are still waiting for an English score or final results.
Residence, not passport. The official wording says living in Pakistan, and it does not mention citizenship. That suggests residence decides eligibility, but the page does not explain what evidence Stirling checks. If your situation is unusual, email the admissions office before you rely on it.
Full-time and on campus. Online, part-time, and distance study fall outside the stated conditions. The September 2026 intake has already started, so January 2027 is the nearest realistic entry date for new readers.
Unconfirmed: The page summary describes the award as being for self-funding students but does not define the term. Ask Stirling whether an external sponsor or a student loan changes your eligibility.
How Winners Are Selected
The official page describes an automatic process, not a competition. During admissions, Stirling identifies eligible students and sends a scholarship offer, usually within one week of the course offer. No scoring method, ranking, or interview is described.
- No scholarship essay is mentioned for this award.
- No award count or country quota is published.
- If you receive several Stirling awards, the highest-value one is applied.
Your course may still ask for a personal statement or references as part of admission. That is an admissions requirement for the course, not a scholarship requirement, so check your course page.
Funding and Benefits
£4,000 tuition waiver
The amount is taken off your tuition fees. It is not paid to you as cash.
Multiple places
Stirling lists the number of awards as multiple and gives no exact figure.
One Stirling award
Only the highest-value award applies. Sports Scholarships are the stated exception.
£1,000 to secure it
You pay after the scholarship offer, using the instructions in that offer letter.
A tuition waiver does not pay for living costs, flights, visa fees, or any tuition left after the £4,000 discount. Build the rest of your budget before you pay the deposit.
Required Documents
The scholarship page lists no scholarship-specific documents, because there is no separate application. The cards below are the records most postgraduate applicants prepare for admission. This is my checklist, not an official list, so your course page has the final word.
Passport
Keep the name spelling identical across every document.
Transcripts and degree
Prepare certified or attested copies if the admissions team asks for them.
English test evidence
Use a test that fits Stirling's rules for your country. See the English section below.
Personal statement or references
Only if your course page requires them for admission.
Proof of address
My advice: keep a current Pakistan address record, since eligibility depends on where you live when you apply.
Offer and scholarship letters
Save both. You will need them for the deposit and the visa.
English Language Requirements
Stirling's general English page lists accepted tests and three score tiers. It does not say which tier applies to which course, so your course page decides. Tests must have been taken within two years of your course start date.
| Test | Tier 1 | Tier 2 | Tier 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic (including UKVI and Online) | 6.0, no part below 5.5 | 6.5, no part below 6.0 | 7.0, no part below 6.0 |
| PTE Academic (test centre only) | 60 overall, 59 in each part | 62 overall, 60 in each part | 67 overall, 60 in each part |
| TOEFL iBT taken before January 21, 2026 | 80 overall | 88 overall | 95 overall |
| TOEFL iBT taken before January 21, 2026 | 4 overall, no band below 4 | 4.5 overall, no band below 4 | 5 overall, no band below 4 |
TOEFL section minimums for older scores vary by tier, so read the full table on the official page before you book. Stirling also accepts several other tests, including Cambridge, Trinity, LanguageCert, and Aptis. To estimate your IELTS overall band, try the IELTS band score calculator.
The general English page says Stirling can accept some tests that are not Secure English Language Tests. Its Pakistan page says postgraduate applicants must take a Secure English Language Test. If you live in Pakistan, plan for the stricter rule and confirm with admissions before you pay for any test.
Costs to Plan For
I have not invented any fee figures here. Course fees differ by program, and the UK government sets visa charges. This table shows what I could confirm and who publishes the number.
| Cost | What Is Confirmed | Where to Find the Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Scholarship deposit | £1,000, paid after the scholarship offer | Your scholarship offer letter |
| Tuition fees | The £4,000 waiver reduces them | The fee section of your course page |
| Student visa and health surcharge | Both are paid with the visa application | GOV.UK |
| English test and other documents | Paid by the applicant | The test provider |
| Living costs | Not covered by the waiver | Stirling's cost of living page |
Budget formula: Net tuition equals your course fee minus £4,000. Stirling's funding page also says a successful visa application needs funding for the full first-year cost of study, so do not count on the waiver alone.
Application Procedure
The flowchart shows the route from choosing a course to arriving on campus. Because the scholarship is automatic, the real work is the admissions application and the deposit.
Use Stirling's course search and confirm the course is postgraduate taught, full-time, and delivered at the Stirling campus.
Match your degree and test score to the course page before you apply.
Submit through Stirling's official admissions route. The scholarship has no separate form.
You need a conditional or unconditional offer before the scholarship can be made.
It usually arrives within about one week of your course offer and explains how to pay.
Use the date for your intake, listed in the deadlines section below.
Make sure your scholarship appears on the CAS, then apply through GOV.UK.
Travel only after your visa is issued and your passport is returned.
Deadlines and Time Zones
Stirling publishes six deposit deadlines. The timeline below lists them in date order. Add them to the Scholarship Deadline Tracker so you do not rely on memory.
Official Deposit Deadline Table
Find the row that matches both your start date and the date you submit your admissions application. The official column is headed with scholarship application dates. Because there is no separate scholarship form, I read it as your admissions application date, which you should confirm with the university.
| Course Start | Application Submitted | Scholarship Offer By | Deposit Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| January 2027 | Sept 1 to Oct 31, 2026 | Nov 2, 2026 | Nov 13, 2026 |
| September 2027 and January 2028 | Sept 1 to Dec 15, 2026 | Dec 21, 2026 | Feb 1, 2027 |
| September 2027 and January 2028 | Dec 15, 2026 to Feb 28, 2027 | Mar 2, 2027 | Apr 1, 2027 |
| September 2027 and January 2028 | Mar 1 to Apr 30, 2027 | May 3, 2027 | Jun 1, 2027 |
| September 2027 and January 2028 | May 1 to Jun 15, 2027 | Jun 18, 2027 | Jul 15, 2027 |
| January 2028 | Jun 16 to Oct 30, 2027 | Nov 2, 2027 | Nov 12, 2027 |
Two gaps to check: The second and third rows both include December 15, 2026, and a January 2027 applicant who applies after October 31, 2026 has no listed row. In either case, email the admissions office before you assume a date.
Time Zone Conversion Table
Stirling gives dates without a time or time zone. This table is my planning aid, not an official cutoff. It assumes the deadline ends at 11:59 PM UK time on the listed day. The UK switches to British Summer Time on March 28, 2027, and US clocks move on March 14, 2027, so conversions shift by an hour for the spring and summer dates.
| Deposit Date | UK Time (Assumed) | GMT | PKT | ET | PT |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nov 13, 2026 | 11:59 PM | 11:59 PM, Nov 13 | 4:59 AM, Nov 14 | 6:59 PM, Nov 13 | 3:59 PM, Nov 13 |
| Feb 1, 2027 | 11:59 PM | 11:59 PM, Feb 1 | 4:59 AM, Feb 2 | 6:59 PM, Feb 1 | 3:59 PM, Feb 1 |
| Apr 1, 2027 | 11:59 PM | 10:59 PM, Apr 1 | 3:59 AM, Apr 2 | 6:59 PM, Apr 1 | 3:59 PM, Apr 1 |
| Jun 1, 2027 | 11:59 PM | 10:59 PM, Jun 1 | 3:59 AM, Jun 2 | 6:59 PM, Jun 1 | 3:59 PM, Jun 1 |
| Jul 15, 2027 | 11:59 PM | 10:59 PM, Jul 15 | 3:59 AM, Jul 16 | 6:59 PM, Jul 15 | 3:59 PM, Jul 15 |
| Nov 12, 2027 | 11:59 PM | 11:59 PM, Nov 12 | 4:59 AM, Nov 13 | 6:59 PM, Nov 12 | 3:59 PM, Nov 12 |
My advice is to pay at least three working days early. Bank transfers from Pakistan or the US can take time, and a payment that lands after the deadline may not count.
Student Visa Basics
Most international postgraduate students need a UK Student visa. This section summarizes Stirling's visa page, and GOV.UK is the final authority for fees and rules.
- You need an offer from a licensed student sponsor, enough English, and enough money for fees and living costs.
- You apply with a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) number that Stirling issues after you accept your offer.
- Self-funding students pay a tuition deposit before the CAS is issued. Stirling treats it as an advance on tuition.
- Tell the admissions team about your scholarship so it appears on your CAS.
- From outside the UK, you can apply up to six months before your course starts.
- Some science and technology courses need an ATAS certificate before a CAS is assigned.
- You may need a tuberculosis test if you are staying more than six months and live in a listed country. Check the GOV.UK tuberculosis test guidance.
Unconfirmed: I could not confirm whether the £1,000 scholarship deposit is the same payment as the tuition deposit used for the CAS. Ask admissions in writing so you do not pay twice or miss a step.
Stirling says a Graduate visa can allow you to stay at least 18 months after an eligible course. Visa questions can go to the university's student immigration team at studentimmigration@stir.ac.uk.
For Pakistani Applicants
Stirling's Pakistan page lists three postgraduate entry routes. All three use the same grade floor: a GPA of 2.6 out of 4.0 or 60 percent. Your course may ask for more, so treat this as the minimum for general entry.
4-year bachelor's
GPA of 2.6/4.0 or 60 percent in the bachelor's degree.
3-year bachelor's plus 2-year master's
GPA of 2.6/4.0 or 60 percent in both degrees.
2-year bachelor's plus 2-year master's
GPA of 2.6/4.0 or 60 percent in both degrees.
Check Your Numbers First
Convert your result before you shortlist courses. The CGPA calculator helps if your transcript shows a different scale, and the IELTS band score calculator helps with the English side.
Pakistan-Specific English Rule
Stirling's Pakistan page says postgraduate applicants must take a Secure English Language Test. Book a test only after you confirm that your exact test type is on the UK government's approved list.
Help From Stirling and Agents
Stirling has a Pakistan team based in Lahore, reachable at teampakistan@stir.ac.uk. Its page also lists approved representatives in Pakistan, so you may use one for admissions help. You never need to pay anyone for the scholarship itself, because it is awarded automatically.
For US Applicants
I get most of my readers from the United States, so here is the direct answer: this scholarship is for people living in Pakistan. If you live in the US when you apply, you do not meet the residence condition. The exception would be a US citizen who genuinely lives in Pakistan at the time of application, and even then I would confirm with the admissions office first.
What US Students Can Use Instead
- Stirling is an approved Title IV institution, and its funding page explains how US federal loans work after you complete the FAFSA. See its page on financial aid for US students.
- Stirling's postgraduate scholarships list includes other awards, such as one tied to the Saint Andrew's Society of the State of New York. I did not open those pages, so check each one for its own rules and amounts.
English and Time Zones
Stirling's English page says applicants from the United States, or those with a UK-equivalent qualification completed there in the past five years, do not need to prove English. Use the Eastern and Pacific columns in the time zone table above if you ever apply to a Stirling award that does fit you.
For Other International Applicants
The scholarship page uses residence, not nationality, as the test. If you live in India, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, the UAE, or anywhere else outside Pakistan, this award is not meant for you. That is not the end of the road, because Stirling runs other scholarships for international postgraduates.
Look for Your Own Country Award
Stirling's postgraduate scholarship list includes separate awards for Ghana, India, Kenya, Nigeria, East Asia, and Europe, among others. I did not read those pages, so I cannot give you amounts or conditions. Search that list for your country before you decide this scholarship is your only option.
If You Live in Pakistan but Hold Another Passport
The official condition does not mention citizenship, so you may still qualify. Write to postgraduate.admissions@stir.ac.uk with your situation and keep the reply. Never claim a Pakistan address you do not hold, because a mismatch can cause problems with the offer and the visa.
English and Visa Rules for Everyone
Some nationalities are exempt from English testing, and the full list is on Stirling's English requirements page. EU, EEA, and Swiss students also need a Student visa. Check the English language requirements page and the visa page for your country.
After You Receive an Offer
Note the payment method, the exact deadline, and any conditions attached.
Use only the method named in the letter, and keep proof of payment.
The scholarship page does not say whether the deposit is credited or refunded, so request the answer in writing.
Check every detail on the CAS before you start the visa application.
Common Mistakes
- Treating it as full funding: The award is £4,000 off tuition and nothing more.
- Missing the deposit date: The offer can lapse if the deposit is late.
- Reading the wrong row: Match your start date and application date before you plan.
- Choosing the wrong course format: Part-time, online, or off-campus study falls outside the stated conditions.
- Booking the wrong English test: Confirm the Pakistan rule before you pay.
- Expecting to stack awards: Stirling applies only the highest-value award.
Scam Warning Signs
- A paid scholarship form: The university says no separate application is needed.
- A request to pay a personal account: Pay only as your official offer letter instructs.
- A guaranteed award: No agent can promise admission or funding.
- Pressure to pay today: Real deadlines are published, and false urgency is a warning sign.
How to Apply Safely
Apply through Stirling's own admissions channels, or through a representative listed on Stirling's official Pakistan page. Verify every payment instruction against the scholarship offer letter. If anything looks different, email the admissions office before you send money.
Remember: Never share your passport scan or bank details with a contact you have not verified. This guide is informational and does not replace the university's own terms. See my disclaimer page for details.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the University of Stirling Postgraduate Pakistan Scholarship fully funded?
No. It is a £4,000 tuition fee waiver, so it is partial funding. It does not cover living costs, travel, visa fees, or any tuition above the waiver.
Do I need to submit a separate scholarship application?
No. Stirling identifies eligible students during the admissions process and usually sends a scholarship offer within one week of your course offer. You then pay a £1,000 deposit by the deadline for your intake.
What is the deposit deadline for January 2027 entry?
The deposit deadline is November 13, 2026, for applications submitted between September 1 and October 31, 2026. Stirling does not state a time zone, so confirm the exact cutoff with the admissions office.
Can I apply if I live outside Pakistan?
No. The official condition is that you are living in Pakistan at the point of application. Students living in other countries should look for a different Stirling scholarship.
Can I combine this scholarship with another Stirling award?
No, with one exception. Stirling Sports Scholarships can be held alongside it. If you are offered more than one other Stirling award, the highest value award is applied.
Which English test do Pakistani applicants need?
Stirling's Pakistan page says postgraduate applicants must take a Secure English Language Test. Required scores depend on your course, so check your course page before booking.
What grades do I need for postgraduate entry from Pakistan?
Stirling accepts a four-year bachelor's degree with a GPA of 2.6 out of 4.0 or 60 percent. Other accepted routes combine a shorter bachelor's with a two-year master's. Your course may ask for more.
Can US students get the Postgraduate Pakistan Scholarship?
Only if they are living in Pakistan when they apply. US students living in the United States should look at Stirling's financial aid for US students and its other postgraduate scholarships.
Final Words
Three actions matter most. Confirm that you meet the Pakistan residence and full-time campus conditions, match your intake to the right row in the deadline table, and pay the £1,000 deposit early. If you do those three things, the scholarship needs very little else from you.
Facts can change, so I will update the Last verified date whenever I recheck the official pages. If you spot an error, tell me through the contact page and I will correct it. You can read more about who writes these guides on the about page.
